Scouts for Equality Executive Director Zach Wahls appeared on CNN Sunday night to discuss the Boy Scouts of America's anti-gay ban and the BSA's recent proposal to keep the ban in place for adults, while removing it for Scouts. Zach was joined by John Stemberger from the anti-gay organization Florida Family Policy Center (Zach's point about this being more about opposition to gay people in general than gay people in Scouting was 100% correct - read Stemberger's CAP profile here.)

.

It should be noted that anti-gay activists like Stemberger made similar claims a few years ago, that ending the military's Don''t Ask, Don't Tell ban on open service would "destroy the institution," which did not happen.

GLAAD first started calls for the Boy Scouts of America to end its ban on gay scouts and scout leaders in April 2012 after Jennifer Tyrrell, a mom and den leader from Ohio was removed from her 7-year-old’s Cub Scout Pack for being gay. Tyrrell’s Change.org petition has attracted more than 343,000 signatures in support of ending the Boy Scouts’ ban on gay Scouts and leaders.
