Actress, producer, director and former GLAAD Vanguard Award honoree Drew Barrymore hosted the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday.
During her opening speech, Barrymore spoke of how far the LGBT movement has come in the three years since her last appearance at the GLAAD Media Awards to accept the Vanguard Award. She shared her desires for marriage equality, a Boy Scouts policy change and for LGBT families to have the ability to adopt.
"I didn't grow up in a traditional family, and I had to find it on my own. And that is what taught me that 'family' is a society definition, and you live it; you find it; you create it. And for anyone to say that it has to look and feel a different way is missing the point."
