Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?

Be sure to check out GLAAD Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.

GLAAD reached out to the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper, as well as Equality OhioTransOhio and Cleveland's LGBT Community Center, to address the offensive media coverage of Cemia Acoff, a transgender woman of color who was found dead earlier this month. GLAAD is working with EPSN to respond to anti-gay comments made by Chris Broussard on the coming out of Jason Collins. We are also asking for a statement from ESPN, distancing itself from Broussard's endorsement of so-called 'ex-gay' programs. Read more.

GLAAD worked with Univision and other local and national outlets to highlight the LGBT contingents that were part of May Day marches nationally. GLAAD also pitched media outlets to cover the stories of LGBT immigrants, both those in binational couples and those who are not, including Jorge Gutierrez of Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project, who did an interview on MundoFox. Jorge and GLAAD's chief of staff Dave Montez were also quoted in a story that appeared in Hoy. Read more.

GLAAD's Monica Trasandes appeared on Panorama USA on CNN's Spanish-language broadcast network CNN Latino to speak about NBA star Jason Collins' coming out and the importance of visibility and inclusion. Trasandes was also interviewed for CNN Deportes and for the English-language Latino news site voxxi.com. Read more.

GLAAD's Brian Pacheco was interviewed on Sin Límites on CNN Latino, and wrote an op-ed that run in the Huffington Post Gay Voices on LGBT Latinos, LGBT immigrants and immigration reform. Read more.
