On Thursday night, Josh Elliott joined fellow cast members of ABC’s Good Morning America news show for a group interview on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight. Host Piers Morgan asked Josh about his moving acceptance speech for the 2012 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding TV Journalism Segment, which he received for the his news report, ‘Battle Against Bullying,’ that appeared on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.
The acceptance speech, which Tonight aired, touched on his father’s coming out as gay to him at age thirteen and the impact that had on his life. Josh shared with Piers why it was important to him to address that time in his speech, saying, “It just occurred to me that it had been a huge part of my life that I hadn’t really had a chance to sort of completely own, and it was just one of those moments… It was great to be able to remember him like that, and to think how proud he would’ve been to have been in that audience that night.”
