PFLAG has teamed up with Johnson & Johnson once again for the 'Care with Pride' campaign.
You can follow the #carewithpride campaign here.
Founded by The Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies in partnership with PFLAG, Care with PRIDE returns for its second campaign to prevent bullying. For 2013, Care with PRIDE is honoring the late founder of PFLAG, Jeanne Manford, who passed away in January at the age of 92. Manford is remembered for the brave first steps she took for the LGBT community as a parent who marched with her son in the 1972 New York City Pride Parade when discrimination and bigotry were the norm.
Bullying among children is connected to a range of problems including a negative impact on academic performance and social and emotional development, with half of all children reportedly experiencing bullying during their school years. That number is as high as 90% in the case of LGBT youth.
During this campaign, a $5 donation will be matched dollar for dollar by The Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies, to help bolster PFLAG's anti-bullying initiatives. These efforts include "Cultivating Respect; Safe Schools for All," which places trained PFLAG members directly into schools to give them the support, resources, model policies and programs necessary to stop bullying and harassment of youth in its tracks. Last year's campaign was nominated for a a GLAAD Amplifier Award, which recognizese groundbreaking images of LGBT people in advertising and public relations.
As a thank-you for donating, The Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies will also be issuing a booklet to each supporter that contains PFLAG's top ten ways to make schools safer environments for youth and $16 in coupons and rebates for more than a dozen brands.
