Wells Fargo, national presenting partner of the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, is kicking off Pride month with the launch of their new "It Gets Better" campaign, including a video from LGBT staff and allies as well as an interactive website with resources to help better your community. During Pride month Wells Fargo will partner with organizations including GLSEN, the It Gets Better Project, Point Foundation, Teach for America and The Trevor Project to spread their message of support for LGBT youth.
Wells Fargo has actively supported programs and nonprofit organizations, such as GLAAD, that serve the LGBT community through sponsorships, grants and volunteer activities for over 25 years. Last year Wells Fargo received the Corporate Leader Award at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Starting in the 1980s, Wells Fargo has shown continuous support to the LGBT community and has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index. Since 1998, all employee benefits have been extended to spouses in domestic partnerships. Wells Fargo has given over 14 million dollars in donations and put in countless volunteer hours into a number of organizations which serve the LGBT community. The company is also the first in its industry to offer guidance to same-sex couples who do not benefit from the legal protections obtained through marriage. The company also received awards for LGBT-inclusive advertising including an award from GLAAD for its financial advisory project for same-sex couples launched in conjunction with The Advocate. In 2010, Wells Fargo partnered with GLSEN and launched the Safe Space Campaign which provided educational kits to assist schools in creating safe and positive environments for all students.
