You Can Play (GLAAD Amplifier Award winner) and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (GLAAD Media Award nominee) have teamed up for the You Can Play campaign's first video to feature multiple pro athletes from multiple sports from the same market.
Featured are:
San Francisco Giants’ Barry Zito, two-time World Series champion and 2002 American League Cy Young Award winner; Oakland Athletics’ Coco Crisp, 2007 World Series champion and 12-year MLB veteran; Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson, 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team guard; San Jose Sharks’ Joe Thornton, six-time All-Star and 2006 Hart Memorial Trophy winner; San Francisco 49ers’ Vernon Davis, 2009 Pro Bowl tight end and seven-year NFL veteran; Oakland Raiders’ Marcel Reece, 2013 Pro Bowl fullback; and San Jose Earthquakes’ Chris Wondolowski, 2012 MLS MVP and two-time Golden Boot winner.
While I, as a die-hard A's fan, am a bit disappointed that Coco Crisp didn't do the Bernie Lean in the video, this is nevertheless a phenomenal project that pulls together some of the best athletes the Bay Area has to offer, and sends a message of inclusion and support to LGBT athletes in their area and around the nation.
Congrats and thanks to both You Can Play and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area for their work on this!
