The US State Department is hosting a Google+ Hangout to address questions about the process for binational same-sex couples to apply for visas. Last week, the State Department announced that it would begin processing visa applications for same-sex couples the same way they are processed for straight couples. Today at 1:00 PM EDT, you can have all your questions answered on how the new guidelines work for immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications.
Submit your questions in advance on the State Department's Facebook page and Twitter account using #AskState and tweeting at @StateDept,@TravelGov, or @USAinUKCGCorner.
Chris Johnson of the Washington Blade, will moderate the hangout, and will direct questions to David Stewart, Consul General of the U.S. Embassy in London; Don Heflin, Managing Director of the State Department’s Visa Office; and Victoria Neilson, Legal Director of Immigration Equality, which advocates on behalf of LGBT and HIV-positive individuals.
The hangout will be broadcast live on the Department of State’s YouTube channel and Google+ page at 1:00 PM EDT, and will be available for viewing after that time.
