Tiq Milan, a writer and an educator at the Hetrick-Martin Institute, an LGBT youth services organization, has penned an op-ed for BET.com calling for greater acceptance of LGBT youth of color. Milan is also a graduate of GLAAD's People of Color Media Institute. "No one should be shamed or isolated because of how they represent themselves," he writes. "We all have an obligation to love and protect each other, even if we don’t quite understand each other. Let’s make room at the table -- bridge the gap."

Last year, Milan signed on as a Spirit Day Ambassador encouraging millions to "go purple" as a sign of support for LGBT youth and to speak out against bullying. Milan was previously featured on MTV's reality series I'm From Rolling Stone where he competed for a Contributing Editor position.
