In a segment that aired Thursday morning, CNN's Soledad O'Brien and openly gay former Clinton adviser Richard Socarides challenged megachurch pastor and televangelist Joel Osteen on his history of anti-gay comments. Osteen has on many occasions called being gay a sin, and says that being gay is "not God's best,"
On CNN’s Starting Point Thursday morning, O’Brien pointed out the disconnect between the Osteen’s positive sermons and his negative statements about being gay. Socarides challenged Osteen on whether he believes being gay is a choice, and whether he himself chose to be straight.
