Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), the nation’s oldest and largest youth LGBTQ youth service organization will honor individuals and corporations that work to create a safe and supportive environment for all young people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The 2012 Emery Awards will bring together prominent LGBT advocates and allies serving as HMI Ambassadors, including Judy Gold, Cheyenne Jackson, Heather Matarazzo, Kimora Lee Simmons, and more. Out singer Andy Bell of the English synthpop duo Erasure will also attend and sing “A Little Respect” for honorees and guests.
Honorees include Time Warner Inc., the groundbreaking documentary film “Bully,” and openly gay Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black. The Awards ceremony will be held on October 29 in New York City’s Metropolitan Pavilion. You can find out more about the awards here, and purchase tickets here.
HMI was founded in 1979 as a response to violence against homeless LGBTQ youth in New York City, and offers comprehensive academic, cultural, career and health programming, as well as other supportive youth services.
