Actress and comedian Lily Tomlin married Jane Wagner, her partner of 42 years, in a low key ceremony on New Year's Eve in Los Angeles. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Gossip columnist Liz Smith broke the news in a recap of her New Year's Eve celebrations, saying, "And my longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014. …My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents."

Tomlin and Wagner met in 1971 when they collaborated on one of Tomlin's comedy albums and have worked together on a number of projects since. Tomlin has starred in many classic films including Nine to Five with Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton, Big Business with Bette Midler, and the Robert Altman films Nashville and A Prairie Home Companion. Tomlin also had several turns on Broadway including her one-woman show The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe (written by Wagner) which won Tomlin a Tony Award.  In addition to numerous TV roles, Tomlin also narrated the 1995 documentary The Celluloid Closet, which was based on the book by her friend and GLAAD co-founder Vito Russo, who she also discussed in the recent HBO documentary Vito. In 2003 she was awarded the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for her contributions to American comedy.

Congratulations, Lily and Jane!
