Argentinian boxer Ana Laura "La Monita" Esteche, who just won the light welterweight championship for the World Boxing Association, came out in a post-competition interview where she thanked "her woman and my mother-in-law."  Her partner happens to be another WBA boxer, Johanna "Yoki" Giménez. Esteche went on to say, "It's that it’s something that you should not hide, after all happiness is not something you should hide, it's something to be shared and I – we – are happy." You can check out Esteche's Spanish-language interview below.

Orlando Cruz was the first professional boxer to come out while actively competing when he told USA Today in 2012, "I want to try to be the best role model I can be for kids who might look into boxing as a sport and a professional career. I have and will always be a proud Puerto Rican. I have always been and always will be a proud gay man."
