Debbie Harry, lead singer of iconic rock band Blondie, today shared an offer she got to perform a concert during the Sochi Winter Olympics. She passed on the offer because of Russia's oppressive anti-LGBT laws which affect millions of Russian citizens, visiting fans and athletes; simply sharing a photo of the offer with the caption "#pass4humanrights.'

You can also show your support for LGBT Russians on Twitter and Facebook by changing your profile photo to a red Principle 6 photo, inspired by the values of the Olympics charter. During the Opening Ceremonies, as the Games begin, the flood of Principle 6 photos online will draw attention to the cause of LGBT people who are being persecuted while the world watches the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Throughout the 2014 Winter Olympics, GLAAD will continue working with international LGBT organizations, athletes and LGBT Russians to secure media coverage for the stories of LGBT Russians, their families and the harms facing them in Russia. GLAAD has also released GLAAD Global Voices: 2014 Sochi Olympics Playbook, a resource guide for journalists covering the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
