Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1) The Teddy Awards, which honor the best LGBT entries at the Berlin Film Festival, were announced last week. Daniel Ribeiro's The Way He Looks (Hoje Eu Quero Voltar) won the narrative prize, and Stefan Haupt's The Circle (Der Kreis) won the documentary prize. Best short film went to Roy Dib's Mondial 2010, with Bruce LaBruce's Pierrot Lunaire winning a special jury prize. 2) Logo has renewed RuPaul's Drag Race for a seventh season! The announcement comes just a week before the premiere of season six on Monday, February 24th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Logo is also exclusively premiering RuPaul's new single "Geronimo" from the forthcoming album Born Naked on sale Monday, February 24.
3) Lizzy, the lesbian lead on NBC's new pilot One Big Happy, has 
been cast. Elisha Cuthbert is set to play the character on the series written by Liz Feldman and produced by Ellen Degeneres. Lizzy and her straight best friend, played by Nick Zano, decide to have a baby together, then Zano's character meets the love of his life and impulsively marries her. Cuthbert is best known for her work on Happy Endings.
4) The Vampire Diaries is set to debut a recurring gay character. Chris Brochu, known for the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth, will be playing Luke in season five of the CW teen drama. A charming gay student at Whitmore, Luke will be bonding with Elena and Caroline - but of course, he's going to have a secret agenda, too.
5) Showtime's Shameless has been renewed for a new 12-espisode season. Shameless, which was recently nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, airs on Sunday nights and includes several out characters including couple Ian and Mickey.
6) Orange is the New Black is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray May 13th! The release will include many special features, including producer commentary on two episodes. Behind the scenes featurettes such as "New Kid on the Cell Block," "Mother Hen: Red Runs the Coup," and "Prison Rules" will be included in the set. It's the perfect chance to catch up on season one before the June 6th premiere of season two on Netflix.
7) Video game WWE 2K14 will feature a gay character, this time based in real life. WWE Superstar Darren Young, who came out last year, will now be the first playable gay character to be introduced in a professional sports video game. He will also be taking part in the LGBT gamer conference GaymerX2 this July as a "Boss of Honor," hosted by GaymerX.
8) Tomorrow, a documentary about a lesbian couple suffering under Russia's antigay laws, needs your help. Produced and written by Elonora Zbanke and Olga Murzak, the film follows a school teacher caught up in a trumped-up case against her and her child, as well as her girlfriend's coming-to-terms with the unpleasant truth about adoption laws in Russia. The filmmakers want to "come as close as possible to the realities of Russia" for LGBT people, and they need your help to do it.
