Over a dozen sports organizations have signed on to go purple for this year’s Spirit Day, helping ensure that the anti-bullying message is seen and heard around the country by fans of basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, wrestling and racing.

In addition to the NBA, WNBA, MLB, MLS, NASCAR Diversity, NHL, USA Track & Field and WWE there has been a wide range of Spirit Day passion from LGBT sports leagues across the country. Among the groups is the National Gay Basketball Association, an organization that links together dozens of local teams, which will go purple in support of Spirit Day on 10/19. The Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association, the largest non-profit gay sports organization in the Midwest, is encouraging their network of athletes to wear purple flair at games during this whole week. Additionally, the international organization that manages and sanctions the gay tennis circuit, the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance, is urging their supporters to go purple through social media and on their website.

Lambda Basketball in Los Angeles and the New York Ramblers (soccer) have also pledged to bring attention to Spirit Day and its anti-bullying message. Check out our Spirit Day partner page to see the complete list of organizations that are going purple.
