In Arizona, 7 couples and two surviving spouses have filed suit to challenge the state ban on marriage equality.  This case has been brought by Lambda Legal and Perkins Coie.  There are now two cases in Arizona courts challenging the ban.  In January of this year, attorney Shawn Aiken filed on behalf of 4 couples.  So far there is no indication that cases will be joined.

The plaintiffs in the recent lawsuit include married same-sex couples, couples who want to marry in Arizona, and individuals whose same-sex spouses have passed away without Arizona ever respecting their status as a married couple. The lead plaintiffs are Nelda Majors and Karen Bailey, who are both in their 70s and, according to Freedom to Marry, have been together for more than 55 years.

In Florida, 8 couples filed suit to have their out of state marriages recognized.  This case was brought by the ACLU.  One of the couples Juan del Hierro and Thomas Gantt, jr have a 14-month-old son and have done a lot of media work in Spanish-language media.

There are more cases pending throughout the nation as this soon to be updated map and article show.
