Tiq Milan nominated for 2014 Black Trans Advocacy Award

GLAAD's Sr. Media Strategist, Tiq Milan, has been nominated for a 2014 Black Trans Advocacy Award for his dynamic work and advocacy within and for the African-American and transgender community.

The Black Trans Advocacy Awards recognizes advocates in the trans community, people who have proven to be dynamic and outstanding leaders for and within the black trans community. The awards acknowledge individuals, groups and organizations who are focused on transformative leadership, the advancement of the black trans movement and who are dedicated to equality, advocacy, empowerment and social change.

Other nominees include those who have worked with GLAAD in a variety of capacities: mixed martial artist Fallon Fox, writer and advocate Janet Mock, athlete Kye Allums, and actress and advocate Laverne Cox

Final award selections will be announced at the 3rd Annual Black Trans Advocacy Awards Dinner Gala Friday May 2, 2014 at 7:00PM. The Black-tie awards ceremony will feature recording artist KOKUMỌ. Event is at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel in Dallas.  Information and tickets are available here.
