As part of GLAAD's ongoing campaign to bring full equality to the Boy Scouts of America, GLAAD has been working to share the story of ousted Scoutmaster Geoff McGrath, connecting him with media outlets and providing him with best practices for telling his story. Geoff, a Scoutmaster and an openly gay man, is the first person to be ousted by the BSA from a leadership role since the group voted to lift its ban on gay youth. Read more here.

Janet Arelis Quezada, GLAAD's Spanish-language media strategist wrote and published an op-ed "Driving While Black and Brown and LGBTQ" in The Huffington Post's Latino Voices page. The Huffington Post is the top-ranked blog site in the U.S. according to media measuring company BurrellesLuceYou can read it here.

GLAAD's Spanish-Language Media team also worked with local advocate Ronnie Veliz on an op-ed for the Advocate. Ronnie and Janet's op-eds are part of GLAAD's campaign to ensure the experiences and personal stories of LGBT immigrants are shared widely within American culture.

GLAAD spoke with transgender musician Tona Brown, asking her about her love of music, her advocacy for African-American and transgender musicians, and what she is doing after her historic performance at Carnegie Hall. GLAAD has set up an Indiegogo campaign to support Tona on her mission to get to the historic venue. Read more here.

In conjunction with the inaugural International Advocate for Change Award to be presented at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, GLAAD is highlighting international advocates working through the media to advance equality across the globe. GLAAD is proud to recognize these brave individuals who through their work help promote the international conversation about the inclusion of the LGBT community. Read more here.
