Attorney Charles Cooper defended California’s Prop 8 that banned Marriage Equality. It was during his defending argument before The Supreme Court that he learned his step-daughter Ashley was a lesbian. He is now helping with the plans for Ashley’s wedding to the woman she loves.
Cooper says his view of same-sex marriage is evolving after having argued in court that gay unions could undermine marriages between a man and a woman.
Charles Cooper’s views are evolving because he can now see, in a very close and personal way, that LGBT people love and deserve marriage equality. No loving parent wants thier child denied equality. To deny that equality hurts families.
UT San Diego has the story.
