Last month, a 21-year old South African gay man, David Olyn, was brutally beaten and tortured to death while seven young onlookers stood by. The seven teenagers were actually invited to watch the horrific attack.
The incident took place on a Saturday evening and was not reported to the police until the next day. GBM News reports that police spokesman, Andre Traut, that a 28-year-old has been arrested in connection to the killing.
Reporter, Maahir Pretorious, said that the crime seemed to have little impact on the witnesses. "I spoke to those kids and they were kicking a ball around and I thought perhaps they needed help or counseling, but this was nothing new for them."
Friends and family of the victim share in the video below what the murder, and the silence of the onlookers, has meant to their lives.
