GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis to speak on social media's role in child, maternal, & reproductive health

GLAAD CEO and President Sarah Kate Ellis will be a featured panelist at Moms +SocialGood on Wednesday, May 7.

A product of the United Nations Foundation's Global Moms Challenge and the culminating even of Global Moms Relay, Moms +SocialGood will explore social media's powerful role in improving the wellbeing of mothers and their children around the world. The event also supports the UN's "Every Woman Every Child" movement.

The event provides a space in which "hundreds of the brightest and most passionate people working to improve child, maternal, and reproductive health will gather to share ideas and inspire action," according to the Moms +SocialGood website, and will connect mothers with each other, as well as with leading experts.

Along with Sarah Kate, speakers will include Gabrielle Blair (Design Mom author, Alt Summit founder), Kathryn Bolles (Save the Children's Health and Nutrition Global Initiative director), Kathy Calvin (United Nations Foundation president and CEO), Anna Maria Chavez (Girl Scouts of the USA CEO), Helen Clark (UNDP administrator), Mehar Gurial (Girl Up teen advisor), Ron Lieber (The New York Times' "Your Money" columnist), Joy Marini (Johnson & Johnson's Corporate Contributions executive director), Pat Mitchell (Paley Center for Media president and CEO), Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka (UN Women executive director), Florida Mwesiga (Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation ambassador), Samantha Power (United Nations' US permanent representative), Amy Robach (ABC News anchor), SaulPaul (musician, storyteller), Caryl M. Stern (US Fund for UNICEF, president and CEO), Aaron Sherinian (United Nations Foundation's Communications & Public Relations vice president), and HRH Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan (maternal and newborn health advocate).

Hosted by Johnson & Johnson, The Huffington Post, Baby Center, and the 92nd Street Y, in addition to the United Nations Foundation, Moms +SocialGood will be held at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. It will be broadcast via Livestream and you can watch it here.
