Be More Heroic (BMH) and the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding (RPCP) are partnering with Joaquin Phoenix to produce CAMP: The Documentary. CAMP will follow the experiences of twenty diverse teens from across the U.S. this July when they attend Camp MORE, a seven-day art and leadership summer program in Big Bear, California.
The camp's purpose is to work with teens in an intimate setting and inspire societal change and progress by starting with the youth. Viewers will watch as the campers participate in experiential workshops, resolve conflicts, overcome personal challenges, form friendships, build confidence and ultimately become compassionate leaders and heroes.
Kayce Brown, a BMH Board Member and a founder of the LGBTQ gaming convention GaymerX, says:
“From our inception, Be More Heroic has pushed the envelope in unique and impactful ways, funneling self-awareness and empowerment to the masses. We are excited to bring our long-time dream of a summer camp to life, so that our youth will learn valuable leadership tools to create more social change. It's important that we shoot Camp as a documentary to go outside of our comfort zones and provoke audiences to be more heroic.”
An IndieGogo campaign was launched today to raise $40,000 to produce the documentary, which will be associate produced by Joaquin Phoenix.
