Campus Pride and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) have partnered to create the first-ever virtual National Online College Fair and Prep Day for LGBT youth and allies during their transition from high school to college. Campus Pride originally launched its LGBT-Friendly College Fair Program in 2007 as a way to connect LGBT and ally youth to information on academics, student life, and campus safety, as well as inform youth about scholarships, test prep, and financial aid resources. College representatives have a chance to chat with interested students and answer all their questions.

This year, the nation-wide college fair tour is bigger than ever with the help of GLSEN, and the virtual component will allow more youth to access these helpful resources from anywhere in the country.  The fairs will take place in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, N.C., Los Angeles, Nashville, Tenn., New York, Roanoke, Va., and Vancouver, Wash. The virtual fair (on Thursday, March 19, 2015) will function just like an in-person fair, and youth will be able to review information, chat live with college representatives, and click through videos and other resources. Both the in-person and virtual fairs are free to attend.

“Since launching the Campus Pride National LGBT-Friendly College Fair Program in 2007, Campus Pride has directly connected thousands of youth with LGBT-friendly colleges, helping them make informed decisions about their future and better positioning them to succeed in life,” Campus Pride Executive Director Shane Windmeyer said. “Partnering with GLSEN, one of the most respected organizations in all of education, will allow us to expand the reach and impact of one of the most successful initiatives ever launched to support LGBT and ally youth in their journey to college.”
