A Colorado federal court has ruled the state's amendment barring same-sex couples from marrying is unconstitutional. The case was filed on behalf of six couples, and Judge Raymond P. Moore had indicated he would rule in their favor. The question was whether Judge Moore would stay his decision to allow time for an appeal. He has stayed his ruling until Aug. 25.
Several counties had already begun issuing licenses to gay couples after court rulings saying same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional but were ordered recently by the state supreme court to stop doing so.
This is the 18th consecutive federal court decision striking down state bans on marriage equality, according to HRC.
