The LGBT community becomes more prominent in the NBA as one of the referees marries her longtime partner, Tanya Stine. Although Violet Palmer has been out since 2007, she feels that by marring her partner of 20 years, she officially comes out to the entire community.

''This is actually the big formal coming out,'' Palmer said. ''We are saying to the world, to everyone, here's my wife of 20 years. This is the big coming out.''

This is not the first time when Palmer made history, in 1997 she became the first woman ever to referee an NBA match. Now she continues to make history as she helps maintain the conversation about LGBT rights in the country's major sports league.

''It's a different feeling. This is one of kind of making my life and family complete,'' Palmer said. ''I've been fortunate enough to have a great career and strive for something that's never been done and was able to do it. They're both exciting and it adds another component to my life that probably half the world doesn't even know.''

Congratulations to the happy couple!!!
