Two weeks ago, a transgender 15-year-old girl was stabbed on the Washington D.C. metro during evening rush hour. Only three days later, another trans woman (age 30) was robbed at gunpoint, also in D.C., according to NBC Washington. She was on her way to pay her bills when she felt a gun at the back of her head. Her assaulter used anti-trans slurs against her and told her that he would kill her if she didn't give up her money – the rent money that she cannot replace, and now, she fears eviction. She told local reporters that she had not left her apartment since the incident because she is afraid for her basic safety.
D.C. Police are currently investigating the incident as a suspected hate crime.
