Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD's President and CEO, will receive the Women Achiever Award in honor of her dedicated work on behalf of women in the media and the LGBT community.
Sarah Kate, a Long Island native, will join pediatrics and breastfeeding medicine specialist Dr. Jennifer Shaer, Locust Valley High School student Tazim Merchant, and Walt Whitman High School student Gabrielle Ramirez as honorees at the Women's Fund of Long Island (WFLI)'s 20th annual Women Achievers Breakfast on October 23 in Woodbury, New York at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
"Taking the lead of a dynamic national media powerhouse in a role primarily held by men in the past has been a triumph for Sarah Kate and the LGBT women she advocates for," said WFLI Executive Director Stacey Scarpone.
