1) The documentary Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story is available now through iTunes and WolfeOnDemand with DVD release to follow on October 28. The film follows the former U.S. Navy Seal who came out as transgender in her book Warrior Princess last year. Beck served for more than twenty years as a Navy SEAL before retiring in 2011. 3) IFC comedy Portlandia just got tastier! The series' leads Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen have announced a new companion cookbook with over 50 recipes for dishes that define the series and highlight the Portland foodie scene. The Portlandia Cookbook: Cook Like a Local is available for pre-order now with a scheduled October 28 release.
4) Out musician Laila Nur recently released the new album Pocket Change and she was featured on NPR this week for the genre-spanning release. The album addresses a range of issues including love, heartbreak, reconciling her religion with being LGBT and the tune "Boy," a positive trans-affirming track.
