On October 17, Emmy-nominated actress and transgender advocate Laverne Cox will premiere a simulcast of the new documentary Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word on MTV and Logo TV. The documentary, which was produced and hosted by Cox, takes an intersectional look at the lives of seven transgender youth across America.
“For many of us, the ‘T’ in LGBT means more than transgender, it also means truth,” said Cox. "The cast members in this documentary are fearlessly living their truths and in sharing their stories will send the message to other trans youth that it's okay to be who you are."
Among the participants are 12-year-old Zoey, who transferred schools when the administration refused to stop misgendering her, and 24-year-old Kye Allums who became the first transgender NCAA Division One basketball player.
Immediately following the documentary, Cox and MTV News' SuChin Pak will host a Trans Forum airing on Logo TV and streaming on MTV.com. The one hour event will include the young people featured in the documentary discussing issues that transgender people are currently facing, as well as answering question from the audience and social media outlets. The documentary and forum are part of MTV's "Look Different" campaign, which aims to fight race, gender and LGBT bias by providing information, education and avenues to action.
Don't miss Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word on Friday, October 17 at 7:00pm EST on MTV and Logo.
