Stephen Snyder-Hill was famously booed on national television in 2011 when he submitted a video with a question to the Republican presidential candidates about their thoughts on the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and their plans to extend spousal benefits to legally married lesbian and gay soldiers.
The harsh reaction from the crowd generated a media buzz around Snyder-Hill who then became a well-known LGBT advocate.
He stopped by GLAAD's New York office with his husband, Joshua, to discuss his new memoir, Soldier of Change: From the Closet to the Forefront of the Gay Rights Movement, about his experience as a gay soldier in the military and his next steps.
