GLAAD Wrap: 'Pride' film opens, new Ricky Martin track, and more

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) Star-studded British dramedy Pride opens in select cities today after premiering overseas earlier this month. The film tells the true story of a group of LGBT advocates who joined forces with a small mining community in Wales in 1984 to protest coal mine closures and support local union workers. Check out the trailer below and find a showing near you.

2) Lilting is open in New York City now, and will expand to Los Angeles next Friday, October 3 and then on to additional cities. The film, starring Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) and Hong Kong film legend Pei Pei Cheng, follows the journey to understanding that Richard (Whishaw) takes with the Chinese Cambodian mother (Cheng) of his deceased partner Kai. 3) Short film Operation Marriage, from director Quentin Lee (White Frog) opens this weekend for a limited run. The short follows an eight-year-old girl and her younger brother's attempts to help their moms get married before the passing of Proposition 8. Operation Marriage will screen twice daily from September 27th to the 29th at the Laemmle Town Center in Encino, CA.

4) Out comedian Tig Notaro's nationwide stand up tour kicked off this week. The Boyish Girl Interrupted tour will be her first since the 2012 Live tour which made her name and covered a lot of emotional material including her battle with cancer and the death of her mother. Notaro promises this tour will be more upbeat: "It's embarrassing how happy I am." Find a date near you.

5) Ricky Martin premiered the audio for his new track "Adios" on YouTube this week. He kicks off his One World tour in Mexico City next week. Check out "Adios" below.

6) Comedy webseries The Residuals' second season will premiere exclusively on BroadwayWorld.com early next year. The series is set in New York City and follows actors and creatives in the television commercial world through auditions, on-set shenanigans and into their personal lives.  The Residuals' first season is available on YouTube below, check out a trailer below.

7) The documentary series Married in America is seeking crowdfunding for the third film following the nine couples that film director Michael Apted has been filming since 2001, including lesbian couple Toni and Kelly. The first two films in the series were produced for A&E and the Hallmark Channel respectively, learn more about Married in America 3 at their Indiegogo page.
