To celebrate Spirit Day, today MSNBC changed their iconic NBC peacock logo to purple (see above) and took a stand against bullying. Several on-air segments and articles featured stories for Spirit Day, in addition to a popular Twitter chat hosted by MSNBC's Thomas Roberts, host of "Way Too Early," and GLAAD's President Sarah Kate Ellis.

The morning started off at 4:20am with GLAAD's National Spokesperson Omar Sharif Jr. as a guest on MSNBC's "First Look" with host Becky Nguyen:

Thomas Roberts talked about Spirit Day for his Out There segment in addition to hosting a popular Twitter chat with GLAAD's President Sarah Kate Ellis.

For MSNBC's website, two articles stood out for Spirit Day:

MSNBC did a story about all of the politicians that went purple for Spirit Day.

James Clementi, Tyler Clementi's brother, wrote a personal op-ed for MSNBC remembering his brother.

Spirit Day, which takes place today, October 16, inspires millions to wear purple or "go purple" online in a united stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBT youth. Each year, Spirit Day draws the participation of celebrities, corporations, media outlets, sports leagues, schools, faith institutions, national landmarks, and individuals. Spirit Day is made possible by the generous support of its national partners PepsiCo and Wells Fargo, as well as official partners Comcast-NBCUniversal and Google, and supporting partner American Eagle Outfitters.

You can go purple now by putting on purple, posting about #spiritday, and sharing your favorite #spiritday posts on social media.
