For more than 6 decades, television has addressed the controversial issues and pushed the cultural change forward. The Paley Center for Media has recognized this impact.  It dedicated this year's annual Gala Benefit to TV's critical impact on LGBT equality and to those whose work has reshaped the hearts and minds of the general public.

The Paley Center for Media is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, exploring, discussing, and interpreting key issues in media. It holds the biggest public archive of television, radio, and internet.  The LGBT Collection comprises of more than 160,000 programs.

The event will take place in Los Angeles on November 12, 2014 and will document the LGBT media collection published over time. Among the key highlights will be the 1972  movie That Certain Summer,  the 2012 documentary How to Survive a Plague, or the episodes of All in the Family, Will & Grace, The Real World, Queer As Folk, Glee, Orange is the New Black and more. This year special event will be presented by some of the greatest stars and LGBT advocates, including openly lesbian actress Portia de Rossi; celebrity ambasador for the LGBT community and co-founder of Tie The Knot charity Jesse Tyler Ferguson; his Modern Family "openly straight" husband Eric Stonestreet as he sometimes describes himself; Will & Grace star Sean Hayes; legendary writer, producer and pioneer when it comes to LGBT images in Hollywood Norman Lear; and the first openly gay NBA player Jason Collins

GLAAD has worked for years to make the mainstream media more inclusive of the LGBT community and to shape the narratives to include accurate and well-rounded portrayals of LGBT people. GLAAD is proud to show support for the Paley Center for Media and to its gala fundraising event.
