On Sunday, Dec. 14, Univision and Pivot will air Crossing Over: Stories of Immigration and Identity which follows three transgender women who left Mexico and made new lives in Los Angeles. The show airs at 8 p.m. ET on Pivot and at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Univision.

The women profiled include Francis, who is seeking asylum, works as a housekeeper and sends most of her income back to Mexico to support her mother. Brenda, a community activist with Bienestar, who received asylum in 2008, and with whom GLAAD has had the pleasure of working, uses her story to help the transgender community.  Abigail, according to the filmmakers, tries to build a new life in the U.S. while facing her past demons of addiction and depression.

"Francis, Brenda and Abigail overcame incredible obstacles while immigrating to the US in pursuit of those things, and that remarkable strength has continued to humble and inspire me through the making of this film,"  said Isabel Castro, director of Crossing Over.

This documentary is one in a series of eight docs called Panoramica hosted by America Ferrera, allco-produced or co-acquired by Univision News and Pivot. Crossing Over is executive produced by Jeff Skoll and Jihan Robinson for Pivot and Eric Douat and Juan Rendon for Univision.

The Panoramica series will air in Spanish on Univision or UniMás, and in English or with English subtitles on Pivot.
