Former top model Patricia Velasquez is publishing a memoir in which she discusses coming out as a lesbian. Straight Walk: A Supermodel’s Journey to Finding Her Truth will be published by Post Hill Press on February 10 and Velasquez will be discussing her story this week in media. Velasquez was a runway model for Chanel, Gucci, and Carolina Herrera. She has appeared on magazine covers including Cosmopolitan and Latina, and posed for SportsIllustratedSwimsuitEdition and Victoria’s Secret. Her acting credits include TheMummy and the recent independent film LizenSeptiembre directed by fellow Venezuelan Fina Torres. The film includes the story of two women who fall in love, and got a great deal of attention in Venezuela. Velasquez lives in Los Angeles with her daughter and partner and is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who started the Wayuu Taya Foundation, dedicated to improving the lives of Latin American indigenous groups. She's also a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
