It was announced earlier in the year that CNN acquired a series of documentary short films by up-and-coming and established filmmakers that would premiere exclusively on the network's digital platforms starting in March. Raising Ryland, about a trans child and his family, will make its debut today, March 18.
Raising Ryland follows the journey of 6-year-old Ryland and his parents as he transitions while dealing with his profound deafness. The film, directed by Sarah Feely, is told partially through the family's collection of home movies over a period of several years. It shows Ryland and his family as Ryland gets cochlear implants and begins kindergarten as his true self with his parent's support.
Raising Ryland premieres on March 18 and will be available on CNN.com and all of its mobile properties, including CNNgo. Check out the trailer below:
