Veronica Bolina, a transgender woman from Brazil who was brutally beaten by police had drawn national and international attention, reported Gay Star News. Her supporters have circulated graphic pictures of her in cuffs during her arrest and another showing heavy bruising. A hashtag has been created and shared #somostodasveronica (weareallveronica) to bring attention to her case. The Sao Paolo Diario reports Veronica has filed complaints about her treatment and that the officers are being investigated.

Sadly our friends in the advocate community confirm the dangers and threats faced by transgender people in their country. For example, Luiz Mott shared this link which documents the names, ages and brutal ways that transgender women have lost their lives in Brazil in the past years with links to reporting and sometimes Facebook pages. One of the entries, the one for Lorena Bahls was left by Aex Sandro Gomes who says below the picture "we want the support of this group because violence against this group of people never goes to trial."
