Bruce Jenner's interview on a Diane Sawyer special edition of ABC's 20/20 generated big ratings, with 16.9 million viewers tuning in. The special also saw 972,000 tweets with most people supporting Jenner. E! has confirmed that an eight episode as-yet untitled docu-series about Jenner's life as a woman will premiere on E!, July 26, at 9 p.m.
Bruce's daughter, Kim Kardashian West, spoke out in support of Jenner in a taped segment which aired on the TODAY show this morning.“Bruce is the most honest … He has the biggest heart and I’m really happy for him that he is living his life the way he wants to live it and that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness,” she said. “That’s what life is about. I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself. […] I support him 100 percent.”
She went on to say that Jenner is "ready for the next challenge and ready to help other people that might be going through the same things that he is going through and that’s something that he’s really proud of and something that he is really ready to take on and I’m really proud of him for that." Singer and outspoken LGBT ally Demi Lovato, a close friend of the Kardashian-Jenner family, dedicated a performance of her song "Warrior" to Jenner at her show in Auckland, New Zealand last night. "I just want to dedicate this song…to someone who became an even bigger hero last night--Bruce Jenner!" Lovato told the crowd to screams and cheers. "By the way, I never thought I'd ever dedicate a song to him. But he was honest and he was open with his story. No matter if you agree with it or not, he probably saved so many lives and educated so many people [about] transitioning into being a woman and being transgender and what's that's all about. So, yeah, I just want to dedicate it to Bruce Jenner."
Many other celebs including Ellen DeGeneres, the Kardashians, Oprah, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and more showed their support for Jenner on social media.Laverne Cox also spoke in support of Jenner in an interview with MSNBC host Janet Mock at Saturday night's White House Correspondents Dinner.
