North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is telling LGBT people in her state and beyond that she's #GotYourBack. On the eve of marriage equality arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court, Heitkamp took to social media to post a photo of herself showing support for LGBT residents of her state.
Heitkamp is no stranger to supporting the LGBT community. Earlier this month, she told North Dakota state lawmakers, “I think we can’t be a state that is seen to discriminate.” Heitkamp is a marriage equality supporter, and a co-sponsor of the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Amendment.
