Last week, iHeartMedia Minneapolis-St. Paul launched 96.7 Pride Radio, the first FM radio station in the United States devoted to the LGBT community and its allies. The station will celebrate its share of the rainbow with what better than 24 straight hours of Madonna music before it airs two weeks of non-stop commercial free music.

As a broadcast extension of Pride Radio, iHeartRadio's digital LGBT station, 96.7 Pride Radio will play similar music to the tunes played on its digital counterpart with music from Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Zedd, Nick Jonas, and Rihanna. Their dance remixes and feel-good pop hits come right in time for Pride Month, and are sure to help the Twin Cities community celebrate the LGBT community.

“June is Pride Month, and I can imagine no better time to launch a station this important to the Twin Cities community,” said Hartley Adkins, Executive Vice President of Operations for iHeartMedia.  “This groundbreaking station represents a place for amazing music and entertainment, but also a platform for the LGBT community.  96.7 Pride Radio is a destination to express opinions, be heard and connect.”

Aside from playing music and special mixes, the station will also feature music and entertainment shows with popular Pride Radio hosts such as Ricky, Delana, Houston, Pacey, and Christie. In addition, 96.7's on-air programming will include local community news and exclusive interviews.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are among the most LGBT-friendly cities in America. With that in mind, the station hopes to create a bond with the LGBT community in the area. Don Parker, Pride Radio Brand Manager and Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia said:

“Our Pride Radio programming and content is proven to develop a strong connection with the community on a national level through our iHeartRadio digital platform. With Minneapolis-St. Paul having one of the most active LGBT communities in the nation, we look forward to an even greater bond with local listeners, who will now have a customized version of Pride Radio available on FM in the Twin Cities!”

Those interested in listening to 96.7 Radio should check out the station's website, 967PrideRadio.com. Listeners can also tune in via the HD3 channel on 107.9 FM in Minneapolis, iHeartRadio.com, and the iHeart Radio mobile app.
