Golden Globe Nominees Announced: LGBT Actors, Characters and Inclusive Series Recognized

Nominees for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning in Hollywood and several out actors and LGBT-inclusive series and characters are being recognized.

Out actor Jim Parsons was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical for his work on The Big Bang Theory. Out actress Sarah Paulson scored a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television for HBO’s Game Change. Paulson is joined in this category by Archie Panjabi who plays bisexual investigator Kalinda Sharma on CBS’ The Good Wife. Eric Stonestreet received a nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television for his role as Cameron Tucker on Modern Family.

LGBT-inclusive series Modern Family, Smash, Episodes and Girls all scored nominations for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Modern Family won the category at last year’s Golden Globe Awards. Downton Abbey received a nod for Best Television Series - Drama and USA’s Political Animals was nominated for Best Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television.  On the film side, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.

The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ legendary Beverly Hilton on NBC on Sunday, January 13 at 8:00pm EST/5:00pm PST.
