Our last LGBT Religion News Summary of the year is not so happy: a Texas pastor wants gay Ugandans to die. The pope denounced gay marriage as the end of society. A queer blog run by alumni of Patrick Henry College was shut down by the school’s chancellor. The Church of England ruled against marriage for gay and lesbian men and women. A Jewish rabbi forbade gay teachers from instructing students. Oy vey.

Uganda’s parliament closed for the year without passing the ‘Kill the Gays’ bill.

And yet—there’s still hope: some Anglican vicars have promised to defy the ban on marriage equality and marry couples anyway. An Episcopal minister in San Francisco released the first gay-friendly Bible, cleverly titled the Queen James Version. A new organization for LGBT Jews and their families has emerged to offer support. The Unitarians held a summit for marriage equality.

The Catholic University of America has denied a charter for an LGBTQ support club on campus, and students on the other side of the country are still fighting for recognition at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
