The GLAAD Wrap: G.B.F. Trailer, John Barrowman on Scandal and new music from Kinky Boots, Elton John

Each week The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) G.B.F., which will make its world premiere as part of the Spotlight section at next week's Tribeca Film Festival, has released its official trailer. The comedy centers on Tanner and Brent, two closeted best friends trying to survive high school. Brent thinks coming out will be his ticket to becoming high school royalty as the "gay best friend (G.B.F.)" of the popular girls, while Tanner just wants to graduate without being noticed. The boys must decide what is really important to them when Tanner accidentally comes out instead of Brent. Check out the trailer below.

2) Ryan Murphy's new drama series Open has landed at HBO with a pilot order and casting is "expected to begin shortly for filming in the fall." Open, co-written with Dexter co-executive producer Lauren Gussis, follows five main characters as they explore their relationships. This marks Murphy's second project at HBO alongside his adaptation of Larry Kramer's Tony-winning play The Normal Heart which is set to premiere sometime in 2014.

3) Out actor John Barrowman (Torchwood, Arrow) will be guest starring in at least one episode of ABC's Scandal this season. Show creator Shonda Rhimes announced the news on Twitter Tuesday, but declined to give any further details on his character or storyline. Barrowman previously worked with Rhimes on Gilded Lilys which was ordered for a pilot last year, but ultimately not picked up.

4) Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are featured on the cover of this month's Elle Decor as they show off their ranch home in the Santa Monica Mountains. The ranch features eight cabins including one called "The Romantic Barn" where they celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Check out the entire eight-page spread in this month's Elle Decor.

5) New Broadway musical Kinky Boots, based on the 2005 British film and the true story that inspired it, will release its original Broadway cast album in stores and digitally on May 28. The musical follows the inheritor of a struggling shoe factory who is inspired by a drag queen to reinvent his business as a maker of fetish footwear. The show features a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Grammy winner and True Colors Fund founder Cyndi Lauper. Watch a preview of the songs below.

6) Elton John contributes guest vocals to Fall Out Boy's title track from the new album Save Rock and Roll which hits stores April 16, but the band have uploaded the entire album to Soundcloud for early streaming. Check out "Save Rock and Roll" featuring Elton John below.

7) "The Mythos of Homo" is an upcoming art project set to take place in Rhode Island during Pride 2013 and aims to "bring a larger sense of community and awareness" to the LGBT community.  The project is looking for funding help to host the series and expand it.
