Actresses Sherri Saum and Teri Polo, who play the leads on ABC Family's upcoming drama The Fosters about two moms raising their mix of biological and adopted kids, introduced a video highlighting GLAAD's programmatic work on Saturday at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco. Check out the video of their remarks below:

ABC Family’s new drama The Fosters, from executive producer Jennifer Lopez and creators Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige (Queer as Folk), about a “multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms," premieres on Monday, June 3 at 9:00 pm ET/PT.

The series centers around police officer Stef (Polo) and her partner, school Vice Principal Lena (Saum), as they raise Stef’s biological son from her previous marriage, Brandon, and the two children they’ve adopted together, Jesus and Mariana. Their already-full household will be disrupted when Lena brings home troubled foster child Callie, and when Stef is partnered at work with her ex-husband (much to Lena’s displeasure).

The Fosters will join several other LGBT-inclusive series on ABC Family, one of only two networks to have ever received an "excellent" score in GLAAD's Network Responsibility Index, which measures the quality and quantity of LGBT-inclusive programming on television.

Also at the event, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom received the Golden Gate Award.  The reigning World Series champion San Francisco Giants received the Corporate Leader Award.  Guests included:  Melanie Brown (America's Got Talent, Spice Girls); Tamala Jones (Castle); Guillermo Diaz (Scandal); Jessica Clark (True Blood); Jinkx Monsoon (RuPaul's Drag Race); Rex Lee (Suburgatory); Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Peter Paige (The Fosters); Jaymes Vaughn, James Davis (The Amazing Race); Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills); Jennifer Biesty, Ryan Scott, Josie Smith-Malave (Top Chef); Laverne Cox, E.J. Bonilla (Musical Chairs); Travis Fine, Isaac Leyva (Any Day Now); Dan Parent (writer, artist Kevin Keller); Marc Lamont Hill (HuffPost Live); Prop 8 plaintiffs Jeff Zarrillo, Paul Katami, Kris Perry, Sandra Stier; LGBT advocates Karen and Eric Andresen,  Shane Bitney Crone, Jennifer Tyrrell and Dr. Kortney Ryan Ziegler; former Pittsburgh Pirates owner Kevin McClatchy; number one WNBA draft pick Brittney Griner; GLAAD National Spokespersons Wilson Cruz and Omar Sharif, Jr..
