Kristen Ellis-Henderson is probably best known from her memoir Times Two, the book she wrote with her wife, Sara Ellis, about giving birth to their daughter, not to mention the kiss the two of them shared on a recent cover of Time magazine.  However she's also a member of the band Antigone Rising.

Started in 1996, Ellis-Henderson's band, Antigone Rising, released their first four albums independently before getting signed by Lava Records in 2003. The band consists of Kristen Ellis-Henderson, Cathy Henderson, Dena Tauriello, and Nini Camps.

The band, influenced by 70s classic rock including The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, has toured in thousands of cities across the country, sharing the stage with notable artists including Joan Jett, The Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith.

After more than a decade of touring and critical acclaim, the band is poised to release a new EP in 2013. The first single, "That Was the Whiskey," blends rock and country twang, and you can listen to it below.

Information about upcoming tour dates may be found here.
