The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots which occurred at the end of June 1969. Pride events have since then been commonly held during this month to recognize the start of the movement towards LGBT equality. 
Of course, that movement is still going and history is still being made. And we want to explore what the concept of Pride Month means to America's LGBT young people.
Pride has a special meaning to every one of us, and every story is powerful. Different generations see the world differently, live in different ways, and develop new ways of expression. The experience of a young LGBT person right now is vastly different from the experience that an LGBT identified person would have had 44 years ago, twenty years ago, or even five years ago. Pride is constantly taking on a unique new meaning. So we think it's extremely important to hear the voices of young people this month.
