GLAAD’s People of Color Media Institute culminates in Los Angeles
GLAAD’s second annual People of Color Media Institute culminated in Los Angeles this past weekend, where equality leaders convened to learn vital media skills. By increasing the visibility of LGBT and allies of color who can speak powerfully and effectively through various media platforms, GLAAD is helping to create diverse national spokespeople for the LGBT equality movement. GLAAD releases sixth annual Network Responsibility Index (NRI)
GLAAD recently released its sixth annual Network Responsibility Index, an evaluation of the quantity and quality of images of LGBT people during the 2011-2012 television season. GLAAD researched primetime programming on ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox, NBC and 10 cable networks from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012. Read the report here.
Calling on allies to support LGBT people in Uganda
GLAAD’s Religion, Faith & Values team worked with Pastor Joseph Tolton to publish an op-ed in Religion Dispatches, calling on U.S. LGBT allies to follow the leadership and offer support to the LGBT people of Uganda. Read more.
Bridging the LGBT and faith communities
GLAAD’s Religion, Faith & Values team worked with advocate Richmond Schmidt to place two parallel articles on The Huffington Post, which call for conversation, care, and mutual concern between the LGBT and faith communities. Read the articles here and here.
