The series centers around police officer Stef (Teri Polo) and her partner, school Vice Principal Lena (Sherri Saum), as they raise Brandon, Stef’s son from her previous marriage, and the two children they’ve adopted together, Jesus and Mariana. Their already-full household is disrupted when Lena brings home troubled foster child Callie and her younger brother Jude.
The Fosters released two special graphics last month in honor of the historic Supreme Court decisions on DOMA and Proposition 8. In a landmark victory for equality, the United States Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of DOMA, a law that prohibited the federal government from recognizing legally married same-sex couples. In a 5-4 vote, the Court also denied standing in Hollingsworth v Perry, which challenged the constitutionality of California's anti-gay Prop. 8, a statewide ban on marriage equality. The decision restored marriage equality in California.
