Fuse, the national music television network of The Madison Square Garden Company, today announced that the reality series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce is the network's most-watched original series ever and the series has been picked up for a second season of eight all-new episodes set to premiere in June 2014. The series follows New Orleans bounce rap artist Big Freedia and her friends, including the "Original Bounce Mother" trans artist Katey Red, as they work to build Freedia's career and bring bounce music to mainstream attention. Big Freedia was previously nominated in Outstanding Music Artist at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards and the series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce is produced by World of Wonder who've also produced RuPaul's Drag Race, TransGeneration, Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys and more.
The first season of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce reached more than four million viewers and the series hashtag #BigFreedia was a nationally trending topic on Twitter during both the season premiere and finale episodes. Even Beyoncé is a fan, as the singer (along with sister Solange and Kelly Rowland) recently showed up to one of Big Freedia's concerts in New Orleans.
